President's Message

Dear LME Families,

As we wrap up another fantastic week at LME, I can't help but look ahead with excitement to everything coming up on our calendar. This week, we have two wonderful opportunities to connect: Bike, Walk & Roll to School Day and our first General PTA Meeting!

When I reflect on the last few weeks, I am simply amazed by the incredible community we are building together. We are so fortunate to have such a diverse, talented, and giving group of parents, teachers, and students. It is your energy, time, and enthusiasm that make LME such a special place for our kids to learn and grow.

Thank you for everything you do to support our school. I hope to see many of you out on the sidewalk for Bike, Walk & Roll and at our meeting this week!

Warmly,

Julia Wood

WEEKLY WRAP-UP
Best VLC Float at the Homecoming Parade!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that our school won Best VLC Float at this year’s Homecoming Parade!

Out of all the incredible schools that make up the Westwood Vertical Learning Community, our entry took home the top prize! To say we are immensely proud of our school, staff, students, and volunteers who put so much effort into making this happen would be an understatement. Winning this award was easily one of the coolest moments of the week!

Thank you to everyone who helped design, build, decorate, and cheer on our float along the parade route. This win belongs to our entire community—way to represent! Way to go, Lions!

One Last Parade Note...
We wanted to take a moment to send a huge, special thank you to Mr. Studor, Ms. Bartels, and Mr. Hanlon, who rode in the parade alongside our 5th graders! We truly have the best teachers, and we are so grateful for how generous they are with their time and energy for our students.

A big thank you as well to Mrs. Masters for her incredible support and encouragement as we launched this new tradition! Not only did she back us every step of the way, but she also walked the entire parade route twirling and leading our school with so much energy and spirit!

Moments like these wouldn't be possible without such an amazing team—thank you all for making this parade memory so special for our school!
Fitnic Success! Rainy Weather Couldn't Dampen Our Fun!

Fitnic was a fantastic success, despite the gloomy weather! Students had a blast trying out new sports, and when we got a break in the rain, we were able to set up even more fun outside, like pickleball, hula hooping, four square, and frisbee.

We are incredibly grateful to the Westwood PALS volunteers who came out and played along with all the kids!

A BIG thank you to the following organizations for giving us the chance to learn and try new sports:

We also want to extend a special thank you to The Love of China School of Dance and The Govindarajan Family for their amazing dance performances and instruction!

Huge thanks to Top Taco and Moms & Pops All Natural Frozen Pops for keeping us fed with delicious food and treats, and to Round Rock ISD Food Services for providing fun prizes, healthy snacks, and great information on healthy living choices.

Lastly, we want to give a massive shoutout to Sonya Addo, Coach Burnett, Coach Thompson, Zsuzsa Basci, and Sarah Archer—you all did a phenomenal job and were so wonderfully flexible with the weather changes. This was truly a special, community-filled event!

Cool Photos - Submit them!

Did you capture amazing memories from this past week? We would love to see them!!

Advocacy Update - Educational Funding

Speaking of School Finance, the Texas Legislature is gearing up for a busy session. On Tuesday, the Texas Senate Committee on Education will hold a hearing on issues impacting public school enrollment and teachers' salaries. On Wednesday, they will discuss issues that include the school voucher program, which directly affects the funding available for public schools like LME. You can provide public testimony on both days, and it will be streamed on the Legislative Committee Hearings webpage.

For more information on some of these issues, check out the PTA’s Under the Dome newsletter: September Newsletter

Our Ultimate Goal: One Voice for Every Student

After surpassing last year’s membership total, we’re working toward an even more meaningful goal: PTA membership equal to LME’s student enrollment—one PTA voice for every student.

Our membership represents the number of people willing to stand behind our students and school. The more voices included—parents, teachers, staff, students, grandparents, and community supporters—the stronger our PTA’s voice becomes.

That voice reaches beyond LME. With the next Texas legislative session beginning in January, every membership adds to the statewide voice advocating for public education and the needs of Texas children.

You don’t have to volunteer or attend meetings to add your voice. Membership itself matters.
